The Occupy Situation

Everyone should know what Occupy Wall Street is or heard of it. If you live in Oakland, you should know what Occupy Oakland is, if not you should go educate yourself on that.

Now to my point, I am getting tired of what is going on. At first, I was all for the protestor and the movement but at the moment I am so tired. This movement has gone voilent. People are getting hurt, the police are out of control. Police, I understand you are doing our job but you need to chill, just because you have the weapons to hurt people, does not mean you should. Let the people protest, it is their right. If they want to protest for what they want and what they believe in, let them. You have a choice to either harm the protestor or let them be, you are not forced to do anything. Please respect the people. You are here to protect us in the first place not to hurt us.

In addition, protestors and people who are involve in the movement, be peaceful. Don't fight back. Do not use harm, show that we are bigger and stronger than the government. Do not turn into the pigs. We should be using our words as weapons. Speak out and educate our youth, they are our future, teach them what they should be doing. The way we are approaching the movement is not smart. We should be working with the city, telling them what we want, how we demand these things to change, and how we are willing to do these things to change it, get their support. We are the people. We can fight and win but we need a new game plan because the one we have now is not working. People are getting hurt world-wide, we are getting shut down. Have a rally that everyone agrees on and one that will not break in a riot. I do now want to wake up the next morning and read something about the Occupy movement saying more people are getting hurt by the police, there were riot, or just anything. I want to wake up in the morning and read that the Occupy movement is getting somewhere. We are making an improvement and working with the cities or cooperate people. Don't make enemies, work with them not against them. We are the 99% but we have to work with the 1% if we want to change anything. Now, don't get me wrong shutting down the banks if a good idea, to get their attention but don't start problems there, keep it peaceful. Don't break windows or vandalize their place.

I don't know if it's just me that feels this way but yeah. I guess I just really want to see a change in the movement. I am happy that more city and states are joining the movement but lets make a difference peacefully. We want to be remember for making a change in a good way but in a way that can bring terror and harm to everyone. We are the 99%.

Troy Davis.

I haven't been on this site in awhile but I need somewhere to write. .

Today, Troy Davis was executed. I believe he was innocent. Many people do but it was not my decision whether he was or not. It just mind blows me that Johannes Mehserle, a white police officer can murder Oscar Grant and get only a couple years in prison. and Casey Anthony who killed her baby, is innocent. BUT when Troy Davis, a black men murder a white police officer, he is put on death row. I did not see the justice in that. It just blows my mind. I will never understand the justice system.

PERSONAL STATEMENT, Y U SO PERSONAL?!

Describe the world you come from — for example, your family, community or school — and tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations.

Growing up in a community where people did not care about their rights or believe they did not get much had me thinking why they thought that way. I observe how families struggle to get help for money or getting food on the table because they are unable to get help from the government or they have low paying jobs, I always question why did they have to struggle and get less while they are the people in need of the most help. I realized that they are affected with social problems the most. It is not right for the poor to get poorer. I want to be that person to help them, to stand up for them, be their voice. Becoming a lawyer for reproductive justice will help be achieve my goal.
I’ve been in a program called SAFIRE which teaches teenage girls about reproductive justices and how minority are treated in our society. This fall, I held a workshop with a group of girls from SAFIRE to teach the youth in my community about climate change and how it will effect their lives. The youth were mostly low-income students who understood learning about how they are taking advantage of and will be most effected by natural disaster that they can make a difference and take a stand. We taught them different ways to stop climate change, like using solar power, go to farmer markets, prevent companies from making factories in their neighborhood, they all learn that they had the power to do something. When we were finish with the workshop, we recorded videos of the youth and they told us what they have learn and how climate change would effect them. One of the youth said, “Climate change would have a negative effect on my family because I will near freeways and factories so my family and I will get sick from the gas” This got to me. It’s like someone hit me in the gut. The pain got me thinking about my family. I come from a low income family. My family can get sick from factories and highways and they would not ahve the power to do anything. I wanted to protect. That pain was like a way to open my eyes. To tell me that I need to make a difference to protect my family and families out there because these are my people who are being affected. These are low income families who are getting effected by factories and roads, who think they aren’t able to do anything. It is not fair for these families to suffer and risk their health because factory owner wants to have their business there, they should be able to stand up.
That is where I learn what I wanted to do with my life. Studying about people in my community that are held in low standard and are taking advantage, I wanted to do something. Those are my people who are being affected and I do not like that, they needed someone who is willing to stand up for them and fight for their rights. Explain to them that they have rights and do not have to let people push them around like that. They will get all their rights that can make their life better and have someone who is willing to help them. That is all I want in my life, to help others because they deserve it, they have rights that need to be fullfilled and I want to get them it anyway I can. I will help them like I am helping my own family, I will give them everything I got.

Tell us about a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution or experience that is important to you. What about this quality or accomplishment makes you proud and how does it relate to the person you are?

My parents would always stress out about money or getting my siblings what we want. Most the time when they stress out, they argue a lot. I am the youngest in my family and everyone thinks I don’t understand or thinks I don’t know what is going on but at a young age, I always knew what was happening. I observe what my parents say to each other and how it affects our household. I was scared at times when they argue but those argument would make them stronger. With all the yelling and fighting in my house, I never looked at the negative side of things.
In my mind, the more people fight in a relationship the stronger they will get if they are willing to keep trying. Now, when my parents fought they would get mad at each other for weeks when I saw that, I knew it was time for me to come in. I found any way to get my parents to talk or make them laugh. I knew how to get my parents to talk. It is easy for me. As a person I always see the positive sight in things, I don’t want to focus on the negactive when it is not needed. I am the problem solver, I know the right from wrong but I can make it in a way that can make everyone happy.
Interacting with people was easy for me. Seeing the positive side in any situation is easy because people able to still have motivation or knowing why things are happening can give out a different mindset. Instead of focus in the bad, I know that I can change it to turn it into a positive. Personally, I know life has it’s ups and downs but why worry about the downs if you can focus on the ups. Downs are like learning lesson, you learn from them then move on with life and don’t think about the downs focus on what will keep you up in life. That is how I see life in a way.

FINAL. YO.

In the book “Ender’s Game” by Orson Scott Card, a young by name Ender does to battle school and becomes the hero everyone excepted him to be. Ender become one of the most greatest leader of all time and helped save the world. But he really missed his family. That is who he had in mind most of the time he was at school. Ender had an older brother and sister, Peter and Valentine. All of them are much alike but very different.

Peter was the older brother. He always wanted to work for the government to get power over everyone. He believe he was going to grow up to be the best soldier there ever was, but that ended up to be Ender. So, Peter was always jealous and furious with Ender. When Ender left to battle school, Peter got worse. The family moved to North Carolina when Ender left and Peter learned how to use his charm to get want he wants from grown up. Also he would torture kids the way he did with Ender. In addition, he got close to Valentine and they started to bound and get closer. All Peter ever want is to have complete control of the government and what is happening in space.

Valentine. She was the opposite of Peter. She knew what Peter was capable of. She knew the power Peter had on people and she was not scared of him but she hate him. Valentine tried every way to get Ender away from Peter. Valentine has brains, she was very smart and always have kept an eye on Ender. She was the closest to Ender and Valentine was the only person Ender really cared about. She hated the bound she grew with Peter. She hated Peter but she worked with him in a blog writing about the government. She hated what she had become into, she was turning in Peter but she always had Ender in mind. She based her life on protecting Ender, no matter and keeping Peter away from Ender.

Valentine and Peter were working together on a blog. They hid their identities so no one will know who they are. Later on, as they kept on writing they started to get a lot of power from their blogs. Peter liked the power he was getting and he enjoyed what people were saying about him. He was finally able to work with the government, he had manipulated them like he did with everyone else that he grew up with. On the other hand, Valentine did not like it at all but she worked with Peter. But when Peter tried to get closer to Ender and to get him to come back on Ender. Valentine drew the line. Valentine threaten to reveal their identities and tell everything that they have in plan. Valentine just turned into Peter in a bit when she did that because she is using what he did to others but now against him but she had a good reason to. She had always wanted to protect Ender no matter what.

Ender grew up thinking that he was like Peter and he was scared of himself for it. Peter was known to be a killer. Ender did not have the heart to kill even though he did, he always found a way to make it up. Ender had feelings, he cared for others. While Peter did not care anyone but himself. He does things for him and only him and when he does not getting what he wants, he torture the others around him until he got what he want. They were almost the complete opposite but they were powerful. Ender had rage him and he was smart on the battle field unlike Peter. Ender did not want power, Ender just wanted to keep people safe while Peter wanted full demand on power.

While Valentine cared only for Ender. Every since the beginning of the book, Valentine had always protected Ender. Peter hated that. Valentine was able to win Ender over with her care. Ender and Valentine were the same, they are both smart. They knew what would happen and used their common sense. That is what they had over Peter. Valentine eventually protected Ender again by getting him to stay on other planet. So Peter would be the only Wiggin on Earth while Valentine and Ender leave and live without Peter.

Peter is one of those characters where, he will end up getting what he want even if that is losing everything he has. He wants power and he will get it. Peter wants Ender gone because Peter knows that Ender is one of the only people that can stop him if he gets power. But Peter does secretly always loved Ender but jealous and mad that Ender have chosen Valentine over him. It has to be Peter at all times and Ender needs to be gone to get that to happen.

The characters in Ender’s Game are complete opposite of each other but they need each other to survive. They are fighting against each other. The older siblings are fighting to get Ender attention, one is protecting him and the other is trying to hurt him. Ender is the middle of everything even though Peter and Valentine got along they had different things in mind of what they want to do with it. Valentine knew what Peter wanted to do but Peter never knew what Valentine wanted to do. They are complete opposite of each other but at times go, Valentine starts to learn from Peter and she turned into him for a bit and used his manipulation skills against him.

Ender is like Peter and Valentine build into one but more of Valentine. Ender is like the good Peter. He is a strong soldier that can control his anger and he has brains.  Ender is the strongest soldier in battle and he will never be like Peter. Peter and Valentine play a huge role in Ender life because Peter was the person Ender never wanted to be like and Valentine was Ender protecting or his will to fight.

PEER EDIT.

For Tram:
You should talked about all the conflicts Ender with though. Also the problems he had with his family. And when he found out the truth about everything. Add more detail more to Ender. I think you should talk about the people around him and how they have effect his life and what is he doing. Expand on what type of person Ender is like how he is always the person that is trying to pleased people or who everyone is relying on.  I agree with you at the end that Ender have changed and he lost apart of him but he is still cared about people and tried to do what he can for the people he hurt.

For Kaila:
Your book seems really interesting. The writing style seems complicated. You should describe more about it and give me more detail. Also reflect more on the author and his decisions on why he choose to write the book the way he did. In addition, for the character you should try to link the author writing style and the character together. You should expand on what the book is about and how the character reflects around other people. Also I think your usage of why you don't like the book can be more descriptive. But GOOD ESSAY!

Ender, Y U HAVE UR OWN GAME?!

In the story, Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card, Ender was just put into Battle School and just left his family behind to train to fight in an army. The leaders in Battle School have very high expectation for Ender, mostly Graff because they believe Ender will grow up to be one of the best. They see that he might be one of the greatest leader in the world and they want to use im in their army. Ender does not know that this is happening, he believes that he is just like here and he is the same as any other kids. Later on in the story, Graff calls Ender out and make everyone believe that Ender is the best student to isolate him from everyone. But that plan back fired on Graff because Ender started to make friends. Also, he started to learn more things in combat and made groups with the Launchies. Ender is starting to get stronger and smart every day.
Also, Ender enjoys computers and programming, so he stays on his computer most the time trying to fix what he can and play a game that he is addicted to. He defeated the unbeatable game and won games with the old kids. Ender was starting to make a name for himself at the school and everyone see him different. Later, he has been promoted to a new army but he is not accepted by everyone. His commander hated the fact that he ad Ender in his army and in Ender’s mind what he wanted to do was to prove him wrong. Ender hates the fact that no way had faith and him but he understood why he was treated that way.
As the story goes on, Ender starts to get smarter and stronger. Ender likes to prove people wrong or try to out smart the people who is trying to control him. He will obey what you will tell him but eventually Ender will get around it. Also, Ender a leader to his launchies, as he starts to learn they do too. The story shows how Ender is growing and he might be one of the best leaders but he still has alot of learning.

ENDER, Y U HAVE MONITOR?!

Pick a character that interested you and write about them in depth. You can also analyze a relationship between two different characters.

In the book Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Caro talks about a young man name Andrew but he is known as Ender how he is struggling to fit into his family and life. Ender also called a “Third” because he had a monitor in him for more than 3 years and said that he was known to do great things in his life. Ender has two siblings name Peter and Valentine, they both had their monitors taken out at a young age. The monitor was a way the government was able to listen to or recruited children who they believe will be the best and can work in the government or in space. Peter has always wanted to do that and is jealous of Ender because might have a chance of working for the government, Peter was a very aggressive and out of control child. While Valentine was more lovable and understanding, she was the complete opposite of Peter, she was smart and would keep Ender safe from Peter. Ender was a child that wanted to get everyone approval and wanted to be normal like everyone else, for a 6 year old he knew a lot of his age and Peter was jealous. The relationship between them was that, Peter dislike Ender and tried to hurt him anyway he can but Ender always tried to get his acceptance,
“And Peter won’t hate me anymore. I’ll come home and show him that the monitor’s gone,
and he’ll see that I didn’t make it either. That I’ll just be normal kid now, like him”(2).
The relationship between Ender and Peter is that one hates the other because of what they have and one just wants his brother acceptance and not be bullied by him. Ender thought that if he did not have the monitor anymore that Peter would like him because Peter hated him because he had the monitor. Peter was the kid that if he did not get want he wanted then no one around him can get it either and if they did then they will get tortured by him and that is what he is doing to Ender. Ender just wants a brother to look up and hang out with but he does not have it and believes that it is all his fault. tween two different characters.

Tiff and Rahni, Y YO STORY SO GOOD?!!

The family stories that I have in common with are Tiffany Cao and Rahni Johnson because they show how their family struggle and how they are here today. First in Tiffany story she talks about her parents leaving the country to be safe because there was a war going on in the country and the only way to be safe is to leave. Since, they were not able to leave with permission they would have to sneak out the country the best way they knew how.
“...moving for country to country. It was easy to blend in, but somehow we got caught, and my parents went to jail.”
This is similar and minds me of my story because it shows all the effort her parents did to come to America and how to give up what they had at home. Also they would have to risk everything they had like my parents to leave the country. Her parents did have a harder time leaving and went to jail but both our parents have the same reasons for living and that’s to keep their family safe.
In Rahni analysis, she talks about how she appreciated her family for what they have done to provide for their family and how she reflects on how if her family did not do what they did then she wouldn’t be here today.
“This story also tells me how strong my family is, we have been through a lot, and if they gave up back then to take the easy way out, then I would not be here today.”
In addition, this is similar to my analysis because we both see that our parents that without them we would not be here today. Also they have put their family first in all their life and what they have for the future. If they did not do what they hve done for us then none of us would be here today and saying this in out analysis is kind of a way to say thanks to our parents and to show them that we do understand and get that without them, our life would not be the same. Also everything they have done if or u

    Cyclical, Y U NO STOP?!

In the book the Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan shows a pattern of a mother and daughter relationship it is like a cyclical because in the beginning of the story with Waverly and her mom share a very close connection. Lindo Jong, who is the mother wanted her daughter to come here and try to make her strong also to want her to become Americanize. Lindo came her to get her daughter to have the American life and she is able to get everything in life and hopefully take over her place in time.
In addition, in the beginning of the story shows how Waverly is able to take the role of her mother and becomes the care taker of her sister when her mom past away. Waverly is taking over the place but also given the power like her mom had to tell the truth to her sister. Also, the story shows how even though Lindo Jong wanted to Americanize her daughter but she ends up making her closer to her culture because she returns back to China in the end. Showing the pattern that when a mother raised her daughter so much and want them to end up with a life the mom always wanted that the daughter would end up like the mom. There is a mom and daughter bond, and the cultural cycle that is shown.
The point of the cyclical element of the book is to show the audience the pattern that goes in the book and the background behind. Also that everything the mothers do will have an effect in the daughters like but they will turn into them at some point. In addition, the beginning and ending shows how the effects of everything that has happen.  Also how the mothers has raised their daughters to live outside their culture but they end up running back to where they have came from. Furthermore the daughters act like their mothers because they want to put their family first and hold onto the tradition. This is the reason in my opinion for the cyclical that is shown by Amy Tan in the novel.

Mom and Dad you are the best.

My parents were raised during the Vietnam war as they were getting older they knew that to get a better life for their family they would have to move to the United States. When my parents got married and had my sister. My dad and his brothers were forced to work in mining for the communist. They did not want to work because they were scared of getting sick or losing their family so they decided to take their family and run. So, my parents, my uncles and their family decided to leave Vietnam, my sister had to stay behind because she was only 6 months old and they did not want her getting hurt or having to suffer during their journey.
In April 1899, my parents and the others sneaked their way onto the boats. Unfortunately, my uncles and their family did not make it onto the boat because the police have captured but my parents were able to get away. On the small boat, that only fitted forty people, it would take them 7 days to get from Vietnam to the Philippines. My dad on the boat worked on the machines and help with what he could on the boat. Since, he had no money to pay the owner of the boat, my dad had to work for him during the time. They would have to live 7 days without any food or water, at one point my parents did not know how they were going to survive.
When they arrived to Palawan Philippines, they entered a refugee camp where they would be living for the next couple of years, they were able to leave the camp to get some food or anything they please. Both my parents did not have any money and they were starving when they saw a store and the people were eating food and drinking they could not stand but had to get something. My mom decided to exchanged her wedding ring for  Coca-Cola and that started their life in the Philippines.
They will be living in the refugee camp for the next 7 years and it was going to be one of the most difficult time of their life. But they good thing was they would not have to deal with communism and be happy with each other in the end. Both my brother and I were born in the Philippines. When my brother was born my parents were just starting their life together and they had what they needed to start a stable family. It was the point of starting something new and getting a good life until my brother started to get sick. He was in and out the hospital and my parents had no idea what to do. He kept getting sick, my parents couldn't take care of him cause they had to work but they tried the best they could. My mom worked at a market and my dad sold and fixed machines for a living but they did not make much money to get my brother a good doctor. So my brother had to go in and out the hospital for awhile.
As the years went on my parents started to struggle more and 2 years after my brother was born, they gave birth to me. When I was born, my parents started to realized that they are unable to raise two kids on their own and thought it was time to go back to their family in Vietnam. So, they planned to go back to Vietnam and hoped that it was safe to come back and have a family there. They plan that if they would want to raise their children it would be around family and it was time to return home. Well, this is the first half of my parents story, to set out a life they want for their family. There is more to the story and the ending is a great one because when they came to the United States it was the beginning of a story for our family and our family story is still going on.
When my mom tells me this significant story about her journey of her life, I am speechless of the things she is wiling to give up and to do for her family. My dad does not talk much about the past, he most talks about the war and how he did not want his family to have the life he had because it was hard. Growing up I knew that my parents have given up their whole life to raise their family in a safe place. So, all my family I knew that my role in the family is to be successful. I have to show my parents that they have given up their life and rick everything that have to make moving to the United States worth it. Also knowing this story just inspires me and shows me how much my parents have done and even though they can be strict or hard on me I know why and the reasoning behind it. They are the people that are giving me the chance to have this wonderful life that most people would wish they can have and I thank them a lot of that.
The reason my parents tell me this story about this journey is to give us a value to life. Also to show that if you really want something never give up because they really wanted a family and to give their children all the opportunity that they did not get, so they are teaching my siblings and I perseverance. My parents wants us to give us knowledge of where we have came from and never forget our past because that is who we are. My parents did not come from a lot but they are making it work and they want us to know that if they are able to survive for 7 days without food or water, then we are able to survive in school, work, and anything we put our mines to.
This story have connected to my life and me because without this story I would not be the person I am and where or what I am doing with my life and education. For example, knowing the story gave me a reason to pay back my parents for everything they have done for me and helped me realized that my life is worth being a success because I have two wonderful people believing in me every since I was born because they have never gave up. In addition, they have inspired me to do what I want with my life. I look up to my parents because what they been through not a lot people can say that they are able to do that and come here and get their children the life they always wanted.
My parents story is one of the most important stories of my life and I will never forget what they have told me and what they have been through to get here. I am thankful everyday for what they have done. It makes me really proud to be able to share this story to people and say ‘yeah my parents actually did that’.

What is wrong with you AMYS?!

In the book, the Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan talks about four Chinese women who moved to the United States with their family to get a better life for their children. In the second section of the book called, “The Twenty- Six Malignant Game” talks about the women’s daughter and how the moms forced their children into doing things causing their daughters to hate them in the end of the story. Also, this section of the book is very similar to an article named “Tiger Mom” by Amy Chua, because they share the same culture.

In the reading both stories share many similarities, in part of the section in “The Twenty- Six Malignant Game” the first part of section called, “Rules of the Game” Lindo Jong has forced her daughter into playing chess, Waverly Jong the daughter, had loved for the game and could play for hours but after awhile and how her mother had treated the game as a way of life Waverly did not want to play anymore. Lindo had forced her daughter too much and causing her to revolt. Just like Amy Chua did with her daughters by forcing them to play the piano everyday and making them practice until they were able to get it right. In the end, Amy’s youngest daughter got tired of her mother telling what to do and forcing her to play the piano so she decided to rebel against her mother. Like both moms they made the mistakes of forcing and pushing their daughters too much into they were no longer able to take their mothers and in the end rebel against them and started to hate them.

The differences in this story is that, at the end of the story of “Rule of the game” the mother daughter relationship had changed. Linda Jong does not talk to her daughter and looks at her in disgraced. She is not happy what her daughter has done and is not proud of what she has done. On the other hand, Amy Chua fought back against her daughter and she took a stand. Amy put more forced on what has happen, when Amy let the law down on her daughter and when her daughter decided that the fight was over and to take her mothers advice and played the piano again, the daughter was proud of herself. They’re relationship was stronger than ever before because the daughter has trust in her mother. The ending and how the mother reacted to the rebellion with their daughters is what makes them different.

Mom, Y U LET ME DO MY OWN THANG?!

In the book, Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan, the second part of the book gives an introduction of what is going to foreshadow what  is going to happen in the next section of the book. The introduction shows a short story is a prediction of what is going to happen to the women's daughters in the future and how the they will end up rebelling against them. The moms in the story are controlling and except the best from their daughter.
In the first story, “Rules of the Game” Waverly Jong was a chess champion and is one of the best players but her mother except more from her. Instead of being allowed to do anything she wants, she is forced to play chess. Her mother is now forcing her into playing a game that she loves but soon, not to love anymore. When Waverly is pressure so much and gets into an argument with her mother, she runs away and that starts the rebellion against her mother. She eventually came back but her mother did not see her the same way, instead her mother is now disappointed and pays her no attention. This story of the book shows how the introduction and this section have in common. It is saying that if you forced someone into doing something so much and putting pressure, they will start to rebel.
The introduction gives out a theme on the section of the chapter. It sends an message to the audience that the moms in the story would like to stay in control of their child to keep them from getting hurt or rebelling but that ends up working against them because their daughter starts to hate them and rebel anyways. In the end the moms in the story will lose either way, what they are doing for their family is doing it in a good way but their daughter does not see it now.

MOM, Y U KEEP CHANGING THE STORY?

In the book “The Joy Luck Club,” by Amy Tan, talks about four immigrant women who come to America to give their family the life they always wanted. The women would have a meeting every couple of weeks and talk about their past experience. Also it was a way for the women to bond and someone that understands them to know what they are going through.

In the story, Suyuan Woo told a story to her daughter, but every time the women would tell the story to her daughter, Jing-mei Woo, the ending of the story would change over the years. The ending of her story would get darker and darker, as her daughter gets older.  The more Suyuan Woo told the story to her daughter the more her daughter believed the daughter and thought life would get darker.

The reason Suyuan Woo changed her story over the years and why the story got darker is because at one point the story was a happy story it had an happy ending but then over time Suyuan realized life would not be full of happiness. In the past, Suyuan thought that when she would come to America, that her life would be perfect but then it did not. Over the years, she would realized that  her hopes were a let down and kept telling that story to show her new perspective on life. She wanted to changed the story over the years because she did not want to lie to her daughter the way she lied to herself over the years. Suyuan Woo wanted her daughter to know the darker side in life. That not everything you hope and dream for can come true and sometimes it is best to show your child this so they are able to understand the let down in the future life. In addition, Suyuan is showing giving her daughter knowledge about what she has gone through and the pains she has been feeling and she hides it in the story. Also, Suyuan wants to tell her daughter the truth of what is happening and they best way she can is through the story.

Chua, Y U NO NICE TO YO DAUGHTERS?

In the article “Why Chinese Mothers are Superior” by Amy Chua, she talks about Western parents and how they take complete control over their children. Chua talks about how her daughters owe her, and that she can do whatever she wants with them because they are her kids. Also, she has rules for them that they have to follow, if they don’t then they are tortured or get called names by their mom. This quote shows how Chua have threaten her child for disobeying her,
“I rolled up my sleeves and went back to Lulu. I used every weapon and tactic I could think of. We worked right through dinner into the night, and I wouldn't let Lulu get up, not for water, not even to go to the bathroom. The house became a war zone, and I lost my voice yelling, but still there seemed to be only negative progress, and even I began to have doubts.”
The way Chua describes the way she treats her children is horrible. If I was her child I would have run away. Even though she says it was to teach them “tough love”, she should never threaten her daughter the way she did. Chua does not seem to give her daughter a lot of respect and think that what she doing is helping them in life but it is really wrong.

Children should not owe their parents for giving life to them. Children should owe their parents for raising them but when the parents give no respect to the child then the child does not owe anything to them. That child should get up and leave the house and never look back because what the parents are doing to them is unfair.

Animal Farm Connection to the WORLD. OOOOOOOH.

In the book Animal Farm, Orwell describes how these farm animals have taken over from humans. The pigs in the farm have created their own government and kicked their “leader” out, which was the owner of the farm. That is somewhat what Egypt have done, they were tired of how their government was treating them so, they decided to come together and revolted against their president because the people of Egypt was tired of being demanded and mistreated by the owners. Also how they were nothing to the president. Orwell describes the leader of the farm and who the farm animals would kick out, in life the people are the animals and the humans are the government/ president. They are all commanding and controlling causing the their people to take their rage on the president. At some point people will get tired of being controlled over and take charge and demand what they want in the government.

In addition, Orwell also describes how spreading of revolution, how the farm animals would spread the word about their revolution, and explain how they have kicked out their leader to give other farm the idea to do the same. Tunisia, is the first country that revolted against their government. They were the people who started the revolution that is still spreading all over the world right now. People are hearing how to kick their government out, and what they should or shouldn’t do and enforcing it to their new government.Orwell shows how a revolution can spread to change a lot of farms or country. Right now, a lot of Middle Eastern country are kicking out their government to get what they want. The people are fighting back just like the animals and expanding the growth of everything. Orwell had describe these government as controlling and a big dictatorship.

These are the connections that Orwell made in Animal Farm that is happening in our world today. The book idea shows how if things go back that will happen to the countries.

    Short Story COLLAB. TRAM HUYNH

On a lazy autumn evening, the animals came back from a long day of work. The humans gave each animal an ounce of food to consume. It's been a month since sanity has settled at Manor Farm. Rebellion has been taboo to speak of by the animals; except one.
Napolean has had some bitter thoughts about the surrender to be equal to the humans. That night he snuck out through the hole in the fence. He walked passed a lot of shrieking trees afraid he ran and ran until he hit a sign post. One read Manor Farm and another read Atlantic Farm.
Napolean did not know what Atlantic was but he knew what farm was. He had a glimpse of the future with Atlantic Farm as his new home.
“One I find hid Atlantic farm, it will be mine, oink! oink! oink!” said Napolean. By dawn the road came to an end and a small barn came to view. The barn was in a open valley. Napolean ran towards the barn and made it to the fence.
On the other side of the fence Snowball slammed open the fenced door and knocked Napolean out. When Napolean woke up all hazy he looked around and saw a lot of farm animals. A face stuck out most, an old horse.
“Molly? Where am I?” he asked her. Silents fell in the crowd and in front of him the crowded slowly separated into two groups and a stubby little pig walked down.
    “My home, comrade” smiles Snowball.
Surprise by Snowballs appearance he was wide eyed. “Your home?!” asked confusedly.
“Yes, I been in charge since I was vanished by you.” He nods and walks away.
Molly walks up to Napolean, “Hi Napolean. It is a fair farm here” smiles and walks off.
That afternoon there was a meeting at the apple tree by the sty. Everyone had a say on everything and Napolean was intrigue by their new found system. Animals were able to vote for what they wanted and the society a liberal way to live but Napolean disagreed with this system. “I will make things go my way” he talks to himself.
Slowly, Napolean gained trust over the other farm animals. Snowball was cautious but did not care much about what Napolean had to say or do. He believe that the farm animals were loyal to him. But day, by day Napolean gained control and influence over most the animals in the farm. That is when Napolean begins to manipulate the system to his will.
Molly fed Snowball her observation about Napolean. To calm his nerves Snowball gather a town meeting in the barn. Snowball begins to speak and from the back of the crowd Napolean screams, “Lets us have change.” All the animals vote for Napolean as there new leader, Snowball was kicked out the farm. That was the last anyone had heard of him.
It has been 2 months that Napolean have been in charge and the farm has turn into a dictatorship. History has repeat itself again with Atlantic farm.

Social networks, Y U SO HARMFUL?!

Social Networks are making our society harmful rather then being a benefit. For example, teenagers use social networks like Facebook or Myspace to harass or bully each other and hurt others feelings. The more and more social networks are popular teens start to attack each other and say cruel and rude things that will end up in a bad situation. There are many cases of bullying on social networking that end up with someone committing suicide. Social networks are not used for connect with friends anymore, now it is a place where teenagers attacking each other and bullying everyone.
In addition, social networks are harmful because there are stalkers and creepers on the site. Some people might get harass by random strangers and end up being scared of what is happening to them on the website. Also, social networks does not have much privacy, anyone can see your photos and know what you are doing which makes it weird if you do not know the person. For instance, if you put a picture of yourself on the Internet anyone can see it, pictures can spread through out the network. That is a scary fact but it can happen to anyone so being safe and only talking to people you know on social networks is the safest because if you start to talk to strangers anything can happen and it is very dangerous.
Finally, social networks are dangerous because it is an easy way for people to keep in connect with you who you do not want to talk to. Also, most people might use social network to harm others by threats and aiming at people. There are not privacy in any website and if you put something there and it is up forever so be careful what you put online. Be safe online. Do not talk to strangers. Don’t put your problems on blast. Don’t bully others online. These are the reason why social networks are harmful and people or the creators need to find a safer way to protect their website. Social networks, Y U SO HARMFUL?!

    My homie George Orwell BRUH!

In my opinion, political power is corrupt depending on the people who obtain it. The person that has the power have an option on what they will do with the power, they can either take complete control or share the power. The United States have a set of rules called the Constitution of Independence telling what you can or can not do. It is kind of a blueprint of how the United States should run but when those rules are not follow as plan, the power will get corrupt. If someone gets complete control over the country of course they will do whatever they want and let all the power get to their heads. The United States have an okay government that is very equal with power and ways of doing things.
George Orwell, in the book shows that the Animal Farm government is corrupt because the pigs say that ‘All animals are created equal’ but that is not true. The pigs are the one in charge and believe that they can do whatever they want. The pigs and bigger animals tell everyone what to do and when to do it. They are the master mind in the rebellion and manipulate all the animals to do all their work. Since, the pigs are the government, they keep a lot of things a secret from the other animals and do not want the animals to be as smart or know more than them because if so then the pigs will have some trouble. Even thought George Orwell show how the government in the farm is corrupt, he always shows how happy all the animals are. The animals do hard work but they do not mind they are enjoying their new society so, it gets you thinking and question if the government corrupt because the animals are enjoying their life being controlled by pigs.
I know I am contradicting myself but I am not sure where George Orwell stands because it is bad to have complete control of a government and tell your people what to do but when they are happy about it, then it is a whole different story.

    Colleges.

This article was very persuasive, it gave a lot of sources and evidence but it was kinda saying that college does not work for everyone. Also that you do not need to go to an elige college to become successful.
“The “oohs” and “aahs” follow as the audience learns that Steven Spielberg, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates dropped out of college, that Oprah Winfrey is an alumna of Tennessee State and that Ken Burns graduated from Hampshire College. If even a few stressed students and their anxious parents benefit from this information, it is a worthwhile exercise.”

As I was reading this article I did not find anything interesting for persuasive. Like it gave fact and stuff but never gave out example. And to me the author is pretty much saying if you do not have money then you can not make it in life which is not true.
“The elite colleges are increasingly white and affluent. The least selective four-year colleges and community colleges are increasingly home to disproportionate concentrations of low-income students as well as African-American and Hispanic youth. And less than 5 percent of students at elite colleges come from the bottom quartile of family income.”
To me reading these article got me thinking about college and my future a lot and I started to feel the pressure but then I realize I still got time. Just taking one step at a time. And to the colleges, I want to apply or go to colleges that I like for their environment and majors not by how popular or what other people think of it. It is my decision where I wanna go so I should know what colleges work or not work for me.

    People change.

I saw this quote that I got from Karisa’s blog that caught my eye and had my thinking,

"People change. They end up having nothing to say to each other, even if they were best friends the year before."

People change a lot over a long time period. They start to have new perspective on things and have new values. When people start to change, their friends can either like or hate what they turn into. Even though, you can be the best of friends for years over time you learn new things and your mind have changed into someone who is different and now who your friend you used to be.

Changing is the way of life. You change your environment so you have to learn something new that will change you for the better or worst. It is just how it is. When people change so much they will not know what to say to each other because they might know if what they say might push the person button and hurt their feelings because they will not know the person that well anymore.

I had many close friends that I had in middle school and now whenever I see them I do not know what to say cause I have no idea what to say or talk to them about. Like they are different now and I am different now what we believed what funny or the stuff we got alike might be different. Things are not the same all the time. Everything change and it gets harder.

    Mom, I love you.

My mom. I love her so much. My mom is not perfect, that is what I love about her. I don’t want someone who is perfect to be my role model because I know she messes up but she learns from her mistakes and move on. This is why I look up to her. Also, her food is so good! Everyone says their mom’s food is the best but really my mom food beats everyone. I just had some ribs and rice, the food was on hit.

Seriously, my mom is like no other. She does so much for me and my siblings sometimes we take advantage of it. In addition, my mom gave up her life to take care of everyone she loves. My family would not be stable without her, we would not even be a family if she was not here. My mom is loves to explore and go on adventures and just have fun with life, and she wants my siblings and I to do the same thing. She just wants the best for us and is willing to do anything to keep us safe and have a better life then her. This is why I love my mom so much. Sometimes I do not know how to thank her for all the things she has done for us.

My mom is not perfect like I said. Sometimes things she says and do pisses me off at times but sometimes she makes it up to me. Also, she learns that she should not do and say those things again. Me and my mom are still learning how to get along because we are too much alike. Which is find with me but we kinda crash at times but daughter like mother.

Anyways, I wanna finish this blog by saying. I love my mom.

Mom if your reading this, I know you’re not but possible if you are MOM, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.
