How the Garcia Girl Lost Their Accents: Part UNO.

How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents is not the most interesting book at first. As, I started to read the book, it was confusing. I did not know who was talking or what they are talking about. The Spanish was hard to read at time but as I kept on reading it got easier to understand. The beginning was really hard because I had to read the book with no knowledge of any real detail of the story. When, I start to get to the 3rd or 4th chapter the story was getting easier, I still did not know who was talking at times but I understand more as I kept reading.

The first part of the story is basically explaining how the family are living their lives. The 4 girls get to tell their story. Also, their connection with their parents, mostly the father. The family have a lot of drama, and everything happen fairly quick. The parents are more old school and the 4 sisters are more into the new generation where boys and going out is what they think about. The dad does not like that so much and is disappointed  because he believes the girls should stay home but that does not happen.

The setting effects the story a lot because of how different the life style is. In the Dominican Republic they are close to home and their culture and they would not lose their knowledge of where they came from. In the U.S. they have to adapt to a new culture and try to figure our a way to fit in to the world. They do not learn about their religion or anything about their culture. So, they start to lose their heritage and everything they learn back at home in Dominican Republic.

In conclusion, the story is based on lost of culture, like a lost on who the 4 sisters are. The sisters have gotten the “US culture” to get the best of them. I want to see if they are able to gain their heritage back. Also, make their parents proud of them and show that they can still be their little sisters, and not the girls they are disappointed on their action, so they need to prove it.
