THING, Y U MAKE ME SO MAD?!

I read Kaila’s blog about the things she hates, so now I want to talk about something I hate in the world :

Math: I just hate you. I used to like you in like 1st to 6th grade but then you got all complicated. Add all your stupid letters and making me find them. No one even needs to know about finding a stupid angle or all that other crap, it gives me a headache.

Facebook Changes: They are so stupid. All noise on the IM thingy is so annoying. I have to mute my computer very time I talk to someone. Also, the font on Facebook is so small, I can not see anything. Did they not consider the face that people have bad eye sight? Plus, I do not care if someone has a new display picture. Facebook you always took away my privacy when you tell people what I say. Facebook is making some bad changes. They need to stop.

Waking up: UGH.I hate waking up in the morning. I smell bad, never feel good, and I am not in the mood for anything. Waking up early is not the business, it takes so much energy and encouragement to get myself up in the morning. I just never want to wake up, it takes so much work.

AC Transit: I hate taking the bus. The bus drivers are never nice, they all mean and rude. The people on the bus, well some of them are okay but the really loud and obnoxious people are so annoying. Plus all the trash and tagging in the bus just makes the bus look bad. Also, the bus is never on time, and I have to stand in the cold for like 30 minutes and creepy people are around.

Rain: The rain kills everything. Nothing goes well when it is raining, that is why in movies when something bad happens it starts to rain, cause rain is not good. I had to stand in the rain for 2 hours waiting for my dad, I was so mad. I did not mind to wait but in the rain. I could have walked home if it was not raining and my dad could have picked me up if it was not raining cause there wouldn’t be any traffic.

Okay, these are some of the things I hate, I have more but they are not right to say on here cause I will get in trouble and it might get me mad and I start to cuss. So, yeah.

UNWIND, Y U GOTTA END?

Unwind by Neal Shustermen gives a hint to rebellion and what is happening to the power of the child now. The author is trying to say that kids are the future so they need to find the will to fight for their right and that is what Conner, Risa and Lev is. The character symbolizes rebellion and the will to fight. They did everything they could throughout the book so they are able to survive and do what is best for them. In the end, Conner is running the Graveyard, where all the run away unwinds go and build up to start a rebellion to fight for their rights back.

All the character in the book have grown from where they were in the beginning. Conner is now able to control is temper. He is always being able to use his power to become a leader and the voice for all the unwinds, also he found someone to love. Risa had no one in the world and now she has everyone on her side, she always found what she is good at and what she is meant to be. In addition, she found her love and almost have everything she needs, mentally she has not changed a lot because she was always smart but now she learned how to trust others. Finally Lev have evolve the most. He is not as naive as he was in the beginning he knows what is going on in the world and what unwinding does to children. Instead of being scared, he faced all his trouble and became a hero and a leader all around the country for all unwinds.

In the book, Happy Jack Camp is where unwinds go to get unwound, it is not something everyone expect it to be. The place is full of bright colors and all the staff are happy. When Conner enters the place, for his punishment the staff told him nothing. Conner did not care as much but when Conner came, he was known as a legend. The staff did not like that because it is kinda of a threat and what Conner did might influence the others. At all times the kids are being watched and they are unable to argue or say anything or they will get unwind. That is somewhere no where wants to go.

Conner is like the leader of the rebellion. Risa is the brains, she thinks logically and keeps everyone calm. Lev is like someone he is the leader on the background who is learning and trying to fit in. They are all leaders.

This book is AMAZING.

Future, Y U NO PLAN URSELF?

In Shiyun’s blog, it got me thinking about my future..

What does future mean? What is the future that awaits us all? I have been thinking about my future recently and thought that there is no answer to what that will await me. There is no way I would know what my future will be like, for I have to decide that myself. For every decision that I make in life, there will be a result to things. No one can really change what they have done or go back to the past and start over again. We will also have to look at the road ahead and make better decisions.

So, after I read the blog post, I started to think about what will happen to me in 5 or 10 years. I started to question everything, what is my life going to be? Where will I be? Who will be in my life? All of these question started to give me a headache. Then I realized that I still have time to plan of this out. My future is tomorrow. It does not have to be 5 years from now, I do not want to think that far, I might have plans in my life but those are just goals, I do not want to plan out my life.

I know I got to ASTI, so we are kinda expected to know what we will do in our future. Well, I do really want to know my future. If I know my future and I plan everything out, what is the point of living my life when I am already living it in my head. There is no excitement in life if I already know what my future is going to be. Plus, they say everything I do reflects my future but how will we know for sure because two people can end up growing up the same way and doing the same thing but have different future.

My future right now is unclear but I like it that way. I do not have any expectations and limits I will have in my life. I am going to live my life in my own pace not knowing what my future is going to be because it is just more funny that way.

I do not know if I am making sense in this blog but to me I am so, it is all good.

Unwind. Part TWO.

In the second part of Unwind by Neal Shusterman, shows a place where run away unwinds go to called the Graveyard. The place is ruled by a man called the Admiral. The unwinds are there to work until they are eighteen.

The Graveyard is kinda like the North during 1860 and the other part of the United States is like the South. Even though unwinding is not like slavery, it has some similarities because the kids are losing the control to do what they want with their bodies and having everything taken away. But the kids run away and hide underground, and in the story, the runaway unwinds were hid in underground tunnels, and it reminds me of slavery because slaves had to hid and run to freedom as well.

Roland who is a manipulative and power hunger young man searching to take control and have popularity in any way possible and everywhere he goes. He is threaten by Conner and hates the Admiral. The reason is he knows they have power and he wants it but the power is not easy for him to get. Roland has brainwashed all the unwinds in the graveyard to believe that the Admiral have killed Emby and is using the unwinds for his own good.  He is wrong, but none of them now that, and believes what Roland says because he is in charge. When the unwinds go into the desert and find the body of 5 dead unwinds who are the Goldens they all believe the Admiral killed them because of all the brainwashing Roland have done so the unwind started a riot. Even though Roland was not there to find the dead bodies or was there for the riot, he mentally started the riot because of all the negative words Roland have been saying about the Admiral.

Conner have grown a lot from the first part of the story, he is realizing his ability. Also, he stays to himself but he does have power, he is known to everyone and starts to control is temper. Also, he learns more about the Admiral, and he finally grows a heart because he learns to take care of people who he cares about and kinda understand why some people should be unwind. In addition, Conner have learn to be patient and remember Risa voice in his head, he has found something to live from and to keep him calm. He has grown into a man over the last few sections of the story.

Bruh, you are beautiful.

"My parents always tells me that I am fat, It brought me down so much that it lowered my self esteem. I would cry myself to sleep knowing that I will never be beautiful compared to other girls. It affected me so much that I would starve for the rest of the day and only have something to drink."

I feel for Christy, what she is talking about in her blog post about asking What is the definition of Beautiful? cause a lot of girls deal with the same problem. Our parents always discourage our appearance and how us girls are not good looking enough and compare us to other girls. They will always say ‘look at her she is skinny, why arent you like that?’ or they will call you want or say anything to just put girls down for their appearance. Parents will never be happy with anything and when you tell them that it hurts our feelings, they do not really care. They think that what they are saying are advice but it is not, what they are saying is rude and ignorant. I can not stand when my parents or any parent say that to their child, it disgust me.

For girls or boys that are deal with this problem, ignore your parents. You are beautiful just the way you are. Don’t ever listen to someone who is putting you down cause they are not better. Maybe they are just jealous cause of how beautiful you look. Beauty can be found anywhere, it does not have to be in appears, it can be anything. If someone does not agree with that then I guess they must be really arrogant. Also, stand up when your parents are putting you down, do not let them run all over you. Tell them the truth, say you are beautiful cause everyone is. If they do not believe that then they can suck it (sorry for my use of word).

Beauty comes from inside that is what people will love you most for. You can not be just pretty on the outside and really bitchy and stupid on the inside. No one will love you. Most the time or all the time, beauty counts on the inside. Who you are is your beauty.

Unwind. Part UNO. :D

In the book Unwind by Neal Shusterman, talks about a generation that is a whole different society, when the United States have a second Civil War, the war was over reproductive rights. Now in this society, parents are able unwound their child at the age thirteen to eighteen if they do not wish to take care of there child anymore. Unwound or unwind means that kids are force to go to a harvest camp and give up their body parts to injured or sick people. The kids had no way out, they were forced to go.

Conner who is a rebel was forced to be unwind when his parents signed the paper. Risa who is an orphan and was kicked out her music program. Lev who is a tithed, so he was born knowing he is going to be unwind all his life. These three kids runaway to prevent getting unwound. Conner and Risa were on the same page at day one when had different way to do thing, Lev was lead as a hostage by later on realizes Conner saved his life.

In this story, there is no understanding  why parents are able to give up their children the way they do. How are they able to live with them? It is outrageous what they have done to their child. Risa, was never given a chance, orphan are forced to get unwind at the age of thirteen if they do not get adapted. The law have changed a lot. Women are able to give up their baby if they do not what to. The way they do that is by leaving the baby at someone porch and when the family opens the house and see the baby, it baby is now belong to them, this was called storking.

Conner is the main character, he acts like he is a tough and badass attitude and that he can take on anything but he really can not. Conner is kinda weak because he does not think with his brain he thinks on instant. Also, Conner has a heart but does not show it, he likes to make everyone think he is tough and that nothing can stop him but Risa knows better. Plus, Conner is a type of person that wants to save everyone or it bothers him when he can not.

Risa and Conner are currently in a warehouse trying to go into safety and surviving til eighteen when they are free to live their life. The society in this story is cruel and wrong. This is no way to rule a country.

I think the society of the rulers in this country needs a SMH. I would never want to live in that society.

ESSAY BRUH. its DONE. I am DONE with the GARCIAS. They are DONE!

People might come from the same culture, where men are powerful and women are forced to give up their lives but they can have different endings. In the  book How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accent by Julia Alvarez and House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisnero. These two books are based on the same topic but have different endings. Both the books show a story about women who are empowered, dealing with their culture and the men in their lives, they have to face these problems in their daily lives and have to find a way to overcome them. These stories have similar begins but the ending is very different from each other.

In the books they are based on the culture that are in the characters lives. The culture in both books are similar to each other because it is from a place where men are in control and women listen to demands. These character both come from a place of poverty and having to fit into the “American life style”. But these stories does not have the same ending that people expect because both books went opposite direction in the end. In the book How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accent, the women in the story left their culture behind. Throughout the book the author discusses that the women are branching out of their homes and finding men outside of their culture. The girls start to rebel on their culture and become more into the American life with going out and dating guys. The girls start to become independent and have the power to control their lives and do whatever they want that is best for them. When they felt their culture, they had to learn a lot about the outside world but it was better for them because now they are able to do whatever they want with no one holding them down. Unlike the women in House on Mango Street, where the culture is similar the Garcia Girls but the girls where forced to listen to every single word the men say. In this story the culture was more powerful and it had full control of the girls lives. They were never able to revolt and leave, they were trapped in this town where they will soon have to marry at a young age and that is the end of their life because their freedom is gone. These books have culture similarity but the women in Garcia Girls were more in control of their lives and was able to revolt and start a whole new life, not like House on Mango Street who were trapped into a culture that will never let them leave.

In addition in both of the books, the women have trouble with men but one book is able to solve their problems unlike the other. In How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accent, the girls are able to leave the dominant men when they left their culture. Those men were their past now because they are able to find other men who are able to treat them better and give them a choice, “ ‘I’ll always love you!’ he said, splurging. ‘Marry me, marry me.’”(70). This shows that the girls are able to branch out to a new culture and love a men who is not dominant and control. The men was able to give them some freedom and the girls were happy with that, even though they have some problems with men they always had a way to solve it. On the other hand on House on Mango Street, the girls are forced to stay at home and learn how to do housework and marry men form their culture. For example, “Sally got married like we knew she would, young and not ready but married just the same”(101). This explains that the girls are forced to stay in their culture and marry at a young age, they are giving up everything. That is what most girls do in their culture and it does not change. These two books show what to do and what not to do. They are explains of how people are able to leave or stay in a culture where men are the dominant group and they gets to call all the shots.

Also, in these two books it shows that women are low on power but it is based on them and their story. The stories is in favor of the men also, it describes a lot about culture and where they came from. The structure of the story is very similar to each other and have a passage of leading to our society now and how everyone is rebelling. Or some people are staying into their culture but they are suffering. The books tell two different stories about how life can end and how people are able to choice what kind of life they want instead of being trapped into a box by men. The books are a great way to learn about lives that a chosen for the girls and how they have to work with what they have in life. Furthermore, it shows that women need to step p and take power so they are able to get their life into order and call it there own.

In conclusion, both stories gives an example of what is happening in out society. The story is mostly based on women and how they suffering in their daily life. The books talk about many topics about culture, men, and enforcement of power. In society women need to take charge so men will not walk over them and think they are the in full control. Us, women have to stand up and become independent and learn from House on Mango Street and How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accent.
